Did You Know?
Real estate principal brokers have expenses regarding agents that they must provide as part of the firm.  These are the items the broker rolls into the  type of commission base provided for the agents.  Such options are if:

-A firm does not provide a lot of space for each agent, they may have lower rental space cost and offer higher split on commissions

-A company that provides more technology for the agent's use, also has a huge technology expense to keep the technology maintained to assure it's continued usage.

-A firm that has more training, whether you attend or not, pays for the staff to provide training, cost increases

-A firm that has a moderate space, offers training held by others, and requires you have your own computer access, can afford to offer a monthly transaction fee in lieu of commission splits.  Their overhead is less, they are offering less on-site availability or less hands on, with as needed atmosphere.

-A firm that offers hands on training or training on a case by case basis, may choose any of the above options and is typically a smaller firm with agents operating their business within a business.

-A firm that only offers a place to hold your license, may have some advantages but usually you are on your own and can operate as a business within a business.

How To
Select a Broker:  Whereas, each student should have their own goals set independently, your choice of which broker will hold your real estate license is a very personal issue.  Consider these issues:  Should your office be close to home?  Should you be at a large office or small office? Should you focus on the type of training provided or the availability of the training?

Prepare a set of questions to ask the broker on your interview.  You are interviewing the broker, just as well as the broker interviewing you for a salesperson position.  This is your time to be confident of your success in real estate thus far.  You have crammed all that real estate knowledge into your mind to pass the state exam.  That is a major accomplishment!  So, now take the experience you have had in the work force, volunteer work, home or community and package it into a new resume designed to present you to the real estate community.
